This gorgeous weather sure is making me wonder why more families don’t opt for portraits in the spring! Cooler temps, earlier sunset and session start times, less crowds, plus all the gorgeousness of Spring… I’m definitely a fan!

A perfect spring day for these two and their blooming spring wedding. Shelby and Devon were all laughter and smiles, and with a glowing sky to kick off our wedding season, I was on cloud 9 myself! ☺️ Congrats again you two!

Keep an eye out for a full reel of peeks coming in a bit! Kicking off my wedding season (and first wedding since returning to work) kicked my butt a bit too, but I couldn’t wait to share a couple sunset peeks with with you all! 🤍

Hi friends, this is a personal post.
I have been debating for the past year how much of my story and current circumstances I wanted to share. Keeping hardship secret doesn’t help progress, but this is also not a space I wanted weighed down with other side of happily ever after.
A year ago began what I didn’t know would be the hardest year of my life. Anyone who has worked with me knows how much heart and soul I put into my work. Honestly it’s one of the things that kept me afloat during the hardest moments. The decision to leave an incredibly damaging and destructive marriage was what I thought was going to be the hard part. The string of overwhelming horrible luck that followed is something you’d have a hard time convincing an audience was realistic in a movie. I broke 5 bones, only 2 of those were from the same injury. I was in and out of Kaiser more times than I can remember. Every time I thought I was getting better and thought I could pick life back up (and get back to figuring out divorce, small business in a down economy, my boys adjusting, and the mental and physical impacts of years of living in fight or flight), something else extreme would pop up and knock me back down. I photographed 4 weddings with broken ribs last fall, and at one of them had them reinjured so bad that I couldn’t continue working (I hired extra photographers to back me up because I couldn’t breathe as it was). I have never made it through telling the whole list of events because the looks of pain on the listeners face. To put it plainly, I’m thankful to be here typing this right now.
The agony of knowing clients are disappointed, giving timelines I thought were easily doable only to have to repeatedly try to explain without saying that I was barely able to feed myself let alone answer emails, watching all the work I’ve put in be undermined by a situation completely out of my control… those have been just as heavy through a lot of the chaos as everything else.
I truly care so much about what I do, and I am human. I am here bouncing back, and this time it’s for good. I hope anyone affected by that journey will forgive me. 🤍

So simple but always one of my favorite things to capture. Hands can show tenderness, safety, love, excitement, and trust in the simplest of forms.

Whether it’s a parent holding their new baby or a pair of newlyweds squeezing each other to make sure the moment is real, it’s something I can’t help but catch.

And being such a huge part of all we do, it’s no wonder that it’s so rare that hands look picture perfect, without a single scratch or bruise. Being able to remove those little things that aren’t a permanent part of you is important to me, and that’s why I give each image the attention it deserves.
