Do you know your why?
If you don’t, I can’t e

Do you know your why?
If you don’t, I can’t encourage you enough to spend some time today to really soul search and find it. When you have a why to drive your efforts, it helps keep everything in alignment.
This photo was snapped right after we bought our new home last fall, in an awesome neighborhood and plenty of space for the boys to be outside doing what they love... a goal that had been driving me for years.
I keep photos of these two on my desk, on my laptop, on my phones background, and everywhere I can find so that I am constantly reminded of why I work so hard and what makes it all worth it.
Don’t get me wrong. I love what I do. But at the end of long days or early mornings leaving the house when I wish I could relax with my family instead, it helps to have the visual reminder.
Anyone who owns their own business knows it’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to grow it, and there are some days when I wish I could get a paycheck from a boss instead of having that weight on my shoulders. But seeing these smiling faces keeps me grounded, reminds me why being my own boss is the best choice for them and for me, and gives me the drive to show them that their mama can do hard things with grace.

Capturing engaged couples as they turn into husbands and wives and then into parents has to be one of the most magical parts of the gig. One day I hope that one of these babies comes to me for their senior portraits, engagement, and other big moments too! I’ll warn you now friends, I’ll be sobbing behind the camera with sheer joy!

Kidding though because I’m a photographer and our weekends are typically jam-packed! This weekend I get to photograph two new babes and two mamas-to-be, and it’s going to be such a whirlwind of love that I don’t even mind the early wake up calls.
