You’re engaged and ready to tell the world! Now what? What is the first thing you should do? Already feeling a bit lost? We have you covered with this list of the first 7 things every engaged couple should put on their to do list!

1. CELEBRATE & SHARE THE NEWS
Whether it’s popping some bubbles or planning a party, this is a very exciting step for your relationship and absolutely worth pausing and celebrating! Call your family, post that first ring selfie, update your relationship status on social, and smile with everyones well wishes until your cheeks hurt!

2. INSURE YOUR RING
Ok, now we’re getting into the real talk. As real as that ring. Center stones fall out, accidents happen, and the last thing you want is for your perfect ring to double in expense for your fiancé. Insurance plans are very affordable and save a huge amount of stress in case the unthinkable happens.

3. SET A WEDDING BUDGET
This probably won’t be the easiest task for most, but it is super important. You can’t embark on the wedding planning journey until you talk to everyone involved about what they are comfortable contributing financially. It is so much harder to reign in an over-blown budget and deal with the stress and friction involved, friends!

4. THINK BIG PICTURE
Now that you have a budget in mind, it’s time to think big picture about your future nuptials. Do you want a big blow out party, a simple yet classic celebration, something on an island somewhere, or an intimate but lavish affair? What is most important to both of you? How many people are a must for your guest list? Starting with a general idea of what you want will help you with the next steps big time.

5. SHOP VENUES & SET THE DATE
These two go hand in hand, because while you might fall head over heels for a venue, they might not have a date available for the next 3 years. This is more true in the post-pandemic world than it’s ever been! Keep your guests in mind as well as you are exploring options and remember that destinations that require a significant amount of traveling for your guests should be announced with more time to prepare.

6. BOOK YOUR KEY VENDORS
As soon as you know your date, jump on those big vendors. They book just as fast as venues, and if you want to have your choice, you are going to have to be on task. Planning, Photography, and Floral are the big three that make the largest visual impact on your day and the memories of it. For your guests, Catering and DJ will be the big two that ensure the best reception experience possible. Trust us when we say that you definitely get what you pay for with all 5 of these vendors, but if you have to prioritize, work closely with your planner to help maximize your budget.

7. SCHEDULE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
Now that you’ve booked your wedding photographer, get the engagement portraits scheduled! These are so much more than a save the date photo! The engagement session helps you get to know and trust the photographer who will be capturing your whole wedding day, helps the two of you get comfortable in front of the camera, and helps celebrate this important yet short period in your lives together.
