Senior portraits are always full of excitement. It never fails that as I work with a graduate, I relive a bit of my own excitement at their age, and find so much joy in helping them celebrate. Some senior sessions really stand out though, and the experiences I create for the girls who join my senior team are almost always among them.
I have known Abby for about a year now, but have known her family all my life. I was overjoyed when she decided to join Team KCM and immediately started planning. She is such a well rounded young woman, and it is always important to me to subtly include the graduate’s hobbies and interests in their session when possible. A scene started forming in my mind… flowing dresses, tall grass, flowers, her guitar… And lucky for me, she was up for whatever ideas I threw at her!
Last Spring we took a walk through an open field, grass up to our thighs and the sun setting behind a moody sky. She wore a lovely burgundy gown and a navy blue floral dress, both stunning on her. It was one of those sessions that I couldn’t seem to edit fast enough.
My team members all get a second, less formal, session as well, and that too was a joy. We drove to a sunflower field where she walked among the blooms, guitar in hand, wearing a fresh floral crown. Sunflowers are her absolute favorite, so as soon as I found the location, I knew it would be perfect.
